Die Ausstellungsgestaltung zu “Ekstase” gibt den paradigmatischen Beispielen von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart einen zusammenführenden Rahmen.

Die Ausstellung beleuchtet die unterschiedlichen spirituellen, politischen, psychologischen, sozialen, sexuellen und ästhetischen Implikationen von Euphorie- und Rauschzuständen zwischen Askese und Exzess.
Das räumliche Konzept nimmt den Begriff des Homo Ludens - der spielende Mensch - als Leitmotiv. Der Besucher bewegt sich durch eine Landschaft, bestehend aus neun Themenräumen, die unterschiedliche Strategien und Konzepte der künstlerischen Praxis im Umgang mit dem Thema der Ekstase zeigen.

Durch klare reduzierte architektonische und gestalterische Eingriffe führt die Ausstellungsarchitektur den Besucher durch die Themen und gibt dem Betrachter Orientierung oder stellt ihn vor Herausforderungen. Gleichzeitig wird die Gestaltung zum Werkzeug, um auf die Bedingungen einer Mischhängung unterschiedlichster Medien zu reagieren und konservatorische und künstlerische Vorgaben einzuhalten.

Ecstasy is one of the oldest and one of the most astounding phenomena of European and non-European cultures. Originally forged in the context of religion and ritual, the transcendental experience of ecstasy was first conceptualized in antiquity.
In nine thematic rooms, the visitor will become familiar with the various faces of ecstasy and with the shifting social significance of mind-altering states as it changed over the centuries.

The spatial concept takes the concept of Homo Ludens - the playing human being - as a leitmotif. The visitor moves through a landscape consisting of nine theme rooms that show different strategies and concepts of artistic practice in dealing with the theme of ecstasy.

Through clearly reduced architectural and design interventions, the exhibition architecture guides the visitor through the themes and gives orientation to the viewer or confronts him with challenges. At the same time, the design becomes a tool to react to the different conditions of a mixture of different media and to comply with conservation and artistic guidelines.
