Kunsthalle Mannheim

Der Neubau der Kunsthalle von Gerkan, Marg und Partner befindet sich im Herzen der Stadt, auf der Südseite des Friedrichsplatzes gelegen.
Entwickelt wurde der Eingangsbereich der Kunsthalle (Kassentresen, Sitzgelegenheiten, Infotresen, Infoanzeige, AV Medien wie Touchscreens, LED Säule), das Restaurant der Kunsthalle, Ausstellungsdisplays, eine Werkkunst Ausstellung, Ausstellung Moderner Meister, Provenienz Ausstellung im Altbau und die Sitzgelegenheiten im gesamten Neubau.

Dem Konzept des von gmp geplanten Gebäudes folgend, eine “Stadt in der Stadt” zu entwickeln, integriert sich das Interior in den “städtischen Kontext” und bespielt die Flächen wie einen öffentlichen Raum. Der Besucher wird in das Geschehen integriert.

The new Kunsthalle, by Gerkan, Marg und Partner is located in the heart of the city on the south side of Friedrichsplatz.
The task was to design the entrance area of the Kunsthalle (cash desk counter, seating, information counter, information display, AV media such as touch screens, LED column), the restaurant of the Kunsthalle, exhibition displays, a work of art exhibition, exhibition of modern masters, provenance exhibition in the old building and the seating in the entire new building.

Following the concept of the building planned by gmp to develop a "city within the city", the interior integrates itself into the "urban context" and plays on the surfaces like a public space. The visitor is integrated into the events and lets him become part of the building.
